Madonna's My Mistress

Madonna’s my mistress
Her baby, her angel
She’s a motion picture figure
Swinging from screen to screen
The ecstasy of Saint Francis
He left the audience in strain
Venus in a half shell
Virgins skinny, lay in the drapes
But she isn’t worried
She knows they will stay the same
Dog fight at the doors
Drinks mix into the floor
Cabaret workers dampen the lights
And extend into frame
Waterfalls reach for the back of her head
Her clothes part at each thread
Amphetamines float in and out
Of creatures dressed in flame
But she isn’t worried
She knows the cardinals will carry her name
Madonna’s my mistress
Her shadow, her tension
She exits to exist
Those displays couldn’t hold her
Attention
The way her midnight swings
Sending her shoes towards me
Letting gravity
Take control of where
The leather lands
But she isn’t worried
Her baby’s in demand

Theres a girl who calls me
On New Years eve
Your lips, my spine
All previously seen
I ask “How long has it been?
How often are you here?”
I suppose I don’t have room to talk
Off this balcony I could walk
I ask “How long will it last?
How often am I there?“
Happy New Years eve
Happy New Years day
In a few hours i’ll join you
In a few hours i’ll be there
In the new age
In your modern day
Something slow and warm
Is all I need
Something to bring me back
To the ground
Bobbing around the air
I’m neither here or there
I will give you a call
When and where I land

They greet me out on the islands
Where the lilies bloom and shimmer with the diamonds
Landing on the coast, near the sea
Watching the cars come and go
Watching the people exit their planes
I’m sure it’s fun for the cameras
I’m barley even here anymore
As evidenced by the frozen roads
I think I’m losing steam on repeating melodies
Though the piece had great movement, though the piece had great swing
Or maybe it’s just the drinks
Common procedure these days
Now i’ve fallen beneath a good photo of some palm trees
Aside silhouettes sharing time on the balcony
The rug, it hums
And the floor, it floods
Coming together between blue and green
I’m sure it’s fun to see
